Consultations of the CIS Foreign Ministries on information issues

On December 11, 2025 consultations of the information services of the foreign ministries of the CIS member states were held at the CIS Executive Committee headquarters in Minsk. The Belarusian delegation at the event was led by the Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Department and MFA Spokesperson, Ruslan Varankou.

The participants of the consultations exchanged views on topical issues of information work. They discussed possibilities for further enhancing the effectiveness of information support for CIS activities and deepening practical interaction between national media outlets in the Commonwealth space.

The Belarusian side highlighted the theme of countering common information challenges and threats. As noted during the consultations, an increasing number of states in the CIS space are facing the spread of unreliable information, disinformation, and fakes. According to various studies, with the development of artificial intelligence and other modern technologies, the volume of such content will only increase. In this regard, the Belarusian side shared its own experience in countering information threats, including raising the overall level of media literacy.

The participants of the consultations agreed to continue interaction and exchange successful practices in information work.
