Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in trade and investments

In  2021, turnover amounted to USD 40,1 billion. Belarusian export to Russia amounted to USD 16.4 billion, import from Russia amounted to USD 23.7 billion. Trade deficit totaled USD 7.3 billion (compared with USD 3,4 billion in 2020). 

Russia is the main trade partner of Belarus. In  2021, it accounted for 49.0 per cent of foreign trade in goods, (41.1 per cent of exports and 56.6 per cent of imports). In 2020, Russia’s share in foreign trade volume accounted for 47.9 percent, with 45.1 per cent of total exports and 50.4 per cent of total imports. 

The turnover of foreign trade in services in 2021 amounted to USD 4.5 billion. Export of Belarusian services to the Russian Federation accounted for USD 2.8 billion. Import amounted to USD 1.7 billion. Trade surplus totaled USD 1.1 billion. 

In 2021, Russia’s share in total volume of foreign investments in the economy of the Republic of Belarus made up 42.6 percent (USD 3.7 billion). The share of foreign direct investment (FDI) from the Russian Federation in 2021 amounted to 34.0 per cent of the total volume of FDI attracted to the Republic of Belarus (USD 2.2 billion).
