Virtual Photo Exhibition Belarus Invincible
The Great Patriotic War was a severe test for Belarus. The territory of the country was fully occupied by the Nazi invaders, who established a brutal regime based on repression, violence and plundering of national wealth.
In the most difficult conditions the Belarusian people fought heroically against the invaders and made a huge contribution to the Great Victory over Hitler's Germany.
But war is not only a heroic struggle, it is an irreparable tragedy of human destinies. Almost every third citizen of Belarus died during the war, dozens of towns were destroyed, hundreds of villages were burnt down.
The Belarusian capital live through all of this.
On June 21, 1941 Minsk was living peacefully, the citizens were resting and making plans for the future. But the hail of bombs and shells that fell on the city in the first days of the war, the actions of the Nazi invaders during the occupation destroyed many hopes and dreams. Only after three years of fascist captivity Minsk was liberated and, like a phoenix bird, began to rise from the ashes and ruins.
The virtual exposition "Belarus Invincible" presents photo collages by the famous Belarusian historian Vladimir Lihodedov showing Minsk and other Belarusian cities of the pre-war period, images of the same neighbourhoods after the war, and the modern look of the restored, peaceful Belarus.
The project was created with the support of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus and the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus, which received a grant from the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko for its implementation.
