On 4-5 February 2016, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Mikhnevich paid a working visit to Riga, Latvia.
On 4 February, the Latvian MFA hosted a seminar on the development of the Eurasian Economic Union for representatives of Latvian state governance bodies and business associations. Aleksandr Mikhnevich presented up-to-date information on the Eurasian integration, Belarusian approaches to the implementation of the idea of ‘integration of integrations’, and answered questions on functioning of the EAEU.
On 5 February, Aleksandr Mikhnevich held bilateral inter-ministerial consultations with Deputy State Secretary – Political Director of Latvian MFA Eduards Stiprais, and had a meeting with State Secretary Andrei Pildegovics. The parties discussed the major avenues of the Belarusian-Latvian relations as well as current topical issues on the international agenda.
