Statement by the Press-Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus on the terrorist act in the Lebanese Republic that resulted in death of the former Prime-minister of Lebanon R.Hariri

The Republic of Belarus decisively condemns the act of terrorism that took place in the Lebanese Republic, Beirut that resulted in deaths of the former Prime Minister of Lebanon Rafik Hariri and his bodyguards.

We express our deep condolences to the family and relatives of Mr. Hariri. The latter has made a personal contribution to the development of Belarus-Lebanese relations and paid an official visit to Belarus in 2001. Belarus also presents its sincere condolences to the Lebanese authorities on the death of an outstanding politician and well-known businessman.

There can be no justification to this crime.

The Republic of Belarus supports resolute and straight measures of the Lebanese Republic against terrorism and is convinced that only consolidation of the international efforts in fight with this global contemporary challenge can make the world more secure.
