On September 8, 2017 Minsk hosted third meeting of the Consultative Council for Belarusians Abroad under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei.
The event was attended by the heads of the Belarusian organizations abroad — Board members from 19 countries and representatives of the Belarusian government institutions.
In his statement, V.Makei stressed that the state is trying to provide maximum support to our compatriots living abroad. “I believe that we have nothing to quarrel over and we do not need to compete. We all want to see our native Belarus independent, respected in the world and prosperous,” underlined the Minister.
V.Makei also stated that the Council can be an important platform for discussion on the development of the state strategy “Belarus-Diaspora” for 2025, which was discussed at the 7th congress of the Belarusians of the World.
During the event, the participants discussed the results of joint work, plans for the future, as well as further support for Belarusian diaspora.
Shortly before the meeting of the Consultative Council a memorial sign for Belarusians Abroad was unveiled in Minsk.
The event coincides with the third art festival of Belarusians of the World and the celebration of the 950th Anniversary of the city of Minsk.
