Ambassador of Belarus A.Kupchyna speaks at the Vienna International Center

The international conference “Perspectives for sustainable Peace in Europe: The UN Vision, the Role of Parliamentarians and Civil Society” took place in Vienna International Centre (United Nations) on 15 September 2017. The event was co-organized by the Universal Peace Federation and the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace in connection with the International Day of Peace.

Ambassador of Belarus to Austria, Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna Alena Kupchyna spoke during Session III “Europe-Eurasia and Balkan: Building Trust and Securing Cooperation”.

Belarusian Ambassador emphasized the need to overcome confrontation, block thinking and dividing lines, deepen economic cooperation and promote dialogue between integration structures in the European continent, overcoming trade and technical barriers, improving transport and digital connectivity, developing genuine international partnerships in such spheres as human trafficking, drug trafficking, migration etc.

A.Kupchyna stressed that there’s no alternative to inclusive dialogue and interstate cooperation. In this regard, she drew attention to the initiative of the President of the Republic of Belarus to launch a new Helsinki process in order to diffuse tensions and revive a true spirit of cooperation in the interests of peace and common security in Europe.

President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Ms Christine Muttonen, MPs from Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and Ukraine, representatives of academia and civil society took part in the conference.
