Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Dapkiunas meets the Director of UNFPA’s Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia

On December 5, 2017 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, held a meeting with the Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Alanna Armitage. It is the first visit of A.Armitage to Belarus. 

The Regional Director of UNFPA highly appreciated the measures taken in Belarus to strengthen the demographic situation in the country, support the family and improve the family policy, promote gender equality and combat domestic violence. A.Armitage underlined that a positive Belarusian experience could serve as an example for others at the regional and international levels.

In his turn, A.Dapkiunas noted the high level of cooperation between Belarus and UNFPА at the country, regional and international level.

The parties discussed joint activity for the near future, in particular, the facilitation of an international conference on family policy in the context of sustainable development in Minsk in spring, 2018.
