Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets the UN Under-Secretary-General, Head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime

On October 9, 2018 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations — Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yury Fedotov, who is vising Minsk to participate in the High Level International Conference “Preventing and Countering Terrorism in the Digital Age”.

This is the second working visit of the Head of the UNODC to Belarus. The first visit took place in May 2013.

The parties discussed joint steps in the fight against human and drug trafficking, cooperation within the framework of the UNODC regional programme for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine in combatting crime and drug trafficking. The participants of the meeting noted a steady high level of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

V.Makei noted with satisfaction the UNODC support in the implementation of the Belarusian anti-trafficking initiatives. The Minister also thanked the Head of UNODC for his contribution to the preparation and participation in the international conference on combating terrorism in the digital age.
