Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei participates in the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad group and Eastern Partnership countries

On May 4, 2016 in Prague (the Czech Republic) the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, took part in the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group and Eastern partnership (EaP) countries. During the meeting, issues regarding the development of the situation in the region of Eastern Partnership, current state and perspectives for implementation of the initiative, as well as bilateral cooperation between the EU and each of the six EaP partner countries, were discussed.

During the plenary session of the meeting the Head of Belarusian Foreign Ministry presented the approaches of the Republic of Belarus to further development of Eastern Partnership and relations between Belarus and the EU.

At the margins of the event Vladimir Makei held a number of working meetings with the senior officials of European structures, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU Member States and EaP partner countries.

In particular, the issues of intensification of Belarus-EU dialogue were discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus with the European Commissioner on the European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn.

Vladimir Makei also met with with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomir Zaoralek. The sides considered the possibilities of extension of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Czech Republic, as well as Belarus-EU interaction.
