Belarusian-Chinese consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs

On March 19, 2019, the consultations between the foreign ministries of Belarus and China were held in Beijing. The Belarusian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas, the Chinese – by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Zhang Hanhui. The parties agreed on the importance of discussing the agenda of bilateral cooperation in the run-up of the meeting of the Leaders of Belarus and China at the Second International «Belt and Road» Forum.

During the consultations interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, namely the current state and prospects of the development of political dialogue between Belarus and China as well as the dynamics of economic cooperation, including the implementation of joint investment projects in various sectors.

The diplomats discussed joint actions aimed at strengthening inter-governmental and inter-parliamentary contacts, improving the legal framework of the Belarusian-Chinese relations. The sides assured each other of further mutual support in the international arena, in multilateral cooperation formats, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (“16+1”).

The Belarusian side proposed to send the Chinese governmental delegation to take part in the events of the International forum in the “Great Stone” Industrial Park in July 2019.

On the same day, Andrei Dapkiunas took part in the Roundtable, organized in the Embassy of Belarus in China, to discuss the Belarusian-Chinese relations. During the event, representatives of the leading expert and analytical institutions of Belarus and China shared their views on various areas of bilateral relations, discussed the development of “Great Stone” Industrial Park, cooperation in education, recognizability of Belarus in China.
