Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration of the Republic of Ecuador Ricardo Patiño Aroca to pay a visit to Belarus

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration of the Republic of Ecuador Ricardo Patiño Aroca will pay an official visit to Minsk on October, 16-18.

According to the program of the visit the delegation of Ecuador will have meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly.

In the course of negotiations the parties will be discussing the ways of expanding the bilateral cooperation, as well as the whole range of issues of mutual interest.

During the visit the delegation of Ecuador will see the largest industrial export enterprises and the National library of Belarus.

Note: Ecuador is a prospective partner of Belarus in South America. The cooperation of the two countries on the international scene is constructive. 

At present the foreign trade between the two countries is not large, nevertheless there is a tendency to growth. During the last five years the bilateral trade turnover doubled to reach $38,6 million in 2010, Belarusian export reached $12,1 million.

The basic Belarusian export items to Ecuador are potassium and nitrogen fertilizers. The shipments of Belarusian tires are growing. The import from Ecuador is represented prevailingly by bananas, flowers, coffee concentrates and tea.

The trade between Belarus and Ecuador for the period January-August, 2011 was $31,3 million (143,4 percent related to the same period of 2010), Belarusian export – $11, 7 million and import – $19,5 million. (119,9 percent).
