Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Dapkiunas meets the UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus

On July 31, 2018 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, met with the UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative, UNFPA Representative in Belarus, Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of cooperation between Belarus and the UN agencies in the areas of achieving the sustainable development goals, implementing international technical assistance projects, Chernobyl cooperation and Human Rights.

The Resident Coordinator briefed the Deputy Foreign Minister on the progress of the UN development system reform and its’ impact on the opportunities of cooperation between Belarus and the Organization, as well as on the key events planned in Belarus by the UN agencies in the nearest future.

The Deputy Minister presented the priorities of Belarus in the field of international technical cooperation in accordance with the National Program of International Technical Assistance until 2020. А.Dapkiunas expressed the hope of the Belarusian side for a more proactive involvement of the UN country team in Minsk in the development and implementation of cost-effective and efficient projects of technical assistance in the country’s priority sectors in economic, environmental and social spheres. The Deputy Minister stressed the particular importance of maintaining transparent and trust-based relations between the UN agencies in Belarus and the Belarusian authorities and national partners.
