Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Dapkiunas participates in the opening ceremony of the Consulate General in Guangzhou

On November 8, 2018 as a part of his visit to Guangzhou (China), the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, took part in the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Guangzhou. The Chinese side was represented by the Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province, Zhang Guangjun, officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, representatives from local business and the public.

During the ceremony, the Deputy Minister noted that the Consulate General will become a linking bridge between the authorities, business and the public at the regional level and, thus, will contribute to the maintenance of high activity of contacts between the two countries. With the authorities of the Guangdong province, A.Dapkiunas discussed the ways of enhancing cooperation between Belarus and the southern regions of China in the areas of tourism, sports, investment, trade, culture. The sides noted the willingness to contribute to the active involvement of the two countries' business, both in bilateral cooperation projects and in the process of synchronization of the economic development of Belarus and China.

During the meeting of A.Dapkiunas with the management of the large Chinese company “Wens Foodstuff Group”, the parties discussed ways and projects of cooperation in the field of food security and agriculture.

On the same day, the Belarus-China Tourism Forum was held in Guanzhou with the participation of the Deputy Foreign Minister, representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the Belintourist branch, as well as more than 30 representatives of the tourism business, local authorities of Guangdong province and a special administrative district Hong Kong.
