Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Rybakov participates in the ECOSOC Partnership Forum

On April 5, 2017 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, took part in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Partnership Forum.

Deputy Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry noted the important role of the partnerships in addressing various issues, including for the implementation of the new development agenda. V.Rybakov spoke for the need to expand the traditional circle of partners (states, international organizations, civil society) by involving the private sector, mass media, academia, religious and youth organisations.

Deputy Minister shared Belarus’ experience in successfully established a global partnership in the United Nations to combat trafficking in persons, as well as protection of the interests of the natural family and promotion of middle-income countries. The Belarusian diplomat stressed that by supporting small partnerships on various issues, it is possible to achieve a successful solution of problems globally.

Background information: ECOSOC convenes the Partnership Forums annual in order to bring together stakeholders from governments, civil society, international organisations and the private sector. ECOSOC’s 2017 Partnership Forum will explore ways to promote partnerships for global solutions to global challenges in terms of implementation of the  sustainable development goals.
