Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkov participates in the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (First Day)

On September 26, 2024 the work of the Belarusian delegation at the UN General Assembly in New York began with negotiations between the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member states in the format of a working breakfast. This year's event is organized by the Kazakh Presidency.

During the meeting, the Ministers discussed a number of current issues of the organization's activities, regional security, and upcoming events at the highest and high levels within the framework of the CSTO.

On the sidelines, M.Ryzhenkov also held several bilateral meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu. S.Lavrov and Minister Ryzhenkov discussed the topics of the upcoming Eurasian Security Conference in Minsk on October 31, 2024 and the schedule of upcoming events through the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.

With M.Nurtleu the sides discussed the implementation of agreements based on the results of the recent inter-ministerial consultations held in Minsk, clarified the schedule of bilateral contacts at various levels, and compared approaches within international organizations. 

A constructive dialogue took place at the UN headquarters with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric-Egger. The interlocuter confirmed the non-politicized nature of the organization's activities and put forward a number of humanitarian initiatives. Agreements have been reached on the continuation and systematization of bilateral cooperation.

The meeting with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, was focused on pressing issues of Belarusian-Vatican cooperation, the situation in the Eurasian region and peacekeeping initiatives. 

During the talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, the main emphasis was placed on the most effective implementation of the roadmap of agreements between the heads of state, intensification of industrial cooperation, cooperation within the SCO and with third countries.

With the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, bilateral projects in non-sanctioned areas, the situation in Ukraine, energy, agriculture and sports were discussed. P.Szijjarto confirmed Hungary's principled position on the inadmissibility of discrimination against athletes for political reasons and the use of sports for political purposes. The sides also noted the coincidence of positions on the counterproductivity of illegal sanctions imposed by the West on a number of countries around the world. 

The meeting with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, was devoted to the prospects of cooperation between the parties in humanitarian fields, including education, healthcare and sports. The sides also touched upon cooperation on multilateral platforms, including within the BRICS and SCO.

With the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the parties focused on the prospects for increasing bilateral trade, the schedule of bilateral visits, investment cooperation and high-tech projects. 

During the talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Valdrack Jaentschke, the dynamic development of historically friendly Belarusian-Nicaraguan relations was noted, the positions of the parties on most international issues coincides, and mutual support in international organizations was confirmed. The progress in the implementation of agreements following the visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Managua and new cooperation projects were discussed.

A meeting with the Foreign Minister of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, was devoted to the main issues of Belarusian-Indian cooperation. The parties discussed possible substantive steps and ways to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as a schedule of contacts between the business circles of the two countries.
