Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Russia on interaction within the OSCE and on issues pertaining to the Council of Europe

On November 14, 2017 Minsk hosted consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on interaction within the OSCE and on issues pertaining to the Council of Europe.

The Belarusian delegation was led by the Head of the European Cooperation Department, Andrei Bushilo. The Russian delegation was headed by the Deputy Director of the Pan-European Cooperation Department, Alexei Polischuk.

In the course of the consultations, closer interaction between the two Foreign Ministries on all OSCE activities and across all dimensions of security were discussed, including countering the modern threats and challenges. In the run-up to the OSCE Ministerial Council to be held in December, 2017 in Vienna, the sides coordinated their positions and agreed on joint activities aimed at promoting the documents of common interest at the OSCE Ministerial meeting. 

The parties also addressed the topical issues of the activities of the Council of Europe and its’ institutions, as well as possible forms of mutual support regarding this Organization.
