The Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus welcomed the cooperation with the Representative of UNICEF in our country. It was stressed that the Fund had been a reliable partner of Belarus in the implementation of national priorities in protecting rights of children for thirty years.
During the meeting, the Deputy Head of the Belarusian mission also participated in the discussions on the preparation of a new UNICEF strategic plan for 2018-2021.
I.Velichko noted that it was crucial for Belarus that international assistance for development was provided in accordance with national needs and priorities of developing countries, including middle-income countries, to which Belarus belonged.
The Deputy Permanent Representative also expressed hope that protection of a family would be properly reflected in a new strategic plan, as it was a family that created a protective shield against external threats to a child, created an atmosphere of love and understanding which fully coincided with the UNICEF’s mandate of creating a safe environment for children.
