On the Meeting of Mr.Alexander Gerasimenko, Ambassador of Belarus, with the Latvian Minister of Transport

On April 29, 2013 Mr.Alexander Gerasimenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Latvia, met with Mr.Anrijs Matiss, Latvian Minister of Transport.
During the meeting the parties discussed the results and prospects of bilateral relations development in the sphere of transport and transit. The sides marked the positive dynamics in transportation of goods, Belarus exports and transit with transshipment in the ports of Latvia in 2012.
Special attention was paid to the development of tariff policy which is aimed at making Belarus-Latvia direction of export and transit cargo transportation with transshipment in the ports of Latvia more attractive. The sides considered the execution of projects on the creation of port infrastructure with the participation of the Belarusian side, and of the joint transport and logistics company.
The Latvian side expressed interest in promoting cooperation in container transportations by the container train “Zybr” and traffic capacity development.
