Third meeting of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between the Government of Belarus and the Government of the UAE held in Minsk

On December 15-16, 2016 Minsk hosted the 3rd meeting of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

The Belarusian part of the Committee was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Makei, the Emirati side was led by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash.

The UAE delegation included Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, Mohammed Sharaf, the representatives of a number of the UAE ministries, organizations and companies.

During the meeting of the Joint Committee, the sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, including further strengthening of trade-economic, investment, scientific and cultural cooperation.

As a result of negotiations the Protocol of the meeting of the Joint Committee was signed. The document reflects further concerted steps on the main directions of bilateral cooperation. The sides also agreed to enhance the cooperation in the fields of financial support for business, agriculture, geology, tourism and youth policy.

The sides signed a number of international instruments, including Memorandum of Understanding in relation to assistance and mutual cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of Belarus and the Insurance Authority of the UAE, Memorandum of cooperation and joint activity between the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus and the Ministry of Education – Higher Education Affairs of the UAE, Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation in the field of culture between the Government of Belarus and the Government of the UAE.

Second meeting of the Belarus-UAE Business Council, organized with the support of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce, and a number of meetings with representatives of business circles of Belarus were also held during the visit to Belarus of the UAE delegation.
