Second meeting of the Consultative Council for Belarusians Abroad under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On September 5, 2016 Minsk hosted the second meeting of the Consultative Council for Belarusians Abroad under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei.



The event was attended by the heads of the Belarusian organizations abroad — Board members from 19 countries and representatives of the Belarusian government institutions.

The head of the Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei addressed the participants.



During the event, the participants discussed topical issues of the activities of Belarusian organizations abroad, implementation of the state program “Belarusians in the world” for 2016-2020, as well as further support for Belarusian diaspora.


On September 3-4, foreign members of the Council took part in a number of cultural events, including the celebration of the Belarusian Literature Day in Rogachev.

Reference: The Advisory Council was established in 2015 in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Belarusians abroad”. According to this statute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for cooperation with the Belarusian diaspora.

The Advisory Board consists of more than 30 representatives of the Belarusian diaspora from 20 countries.
