Delegation of Belarus participates in the event on organized crime

On June 19, 2017 at the UN Headquarters in New York, the Deputy Head of the Directorate for Multilateral Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vadim Pisarevich, participated in the thematic discussion “Current gaps, new trends and new problems in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice” held within the UN high-level meeting on transnational organised crime. The event was organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the assassination of the Italian judge, Giovanni Falcone.

The President of the UN General Assembly, Chair of the twenty-sixth session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the Executive-Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime took part in its opening ceremony.

In his statement, V.Pisarevich focused on the effectiveness of existing international agreements to combat world crime and their relevance to new types of crimes. At the same time, Belarusian diplomat called for the creation of a new strategic guidance that would help states to use Palermo tools in the fight against new types of crimes.
