Comment by the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus in connection with the accident with SMM monitors

We are deeply concerned by the news of the explosion of the car of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine not far from Luhansk as a result of which one SMM monitor died and two got wounded.

We express our sincere condolences to the families and close ones of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to those wounded.

We call for a thorough investigation of all circumstances of this tragedy. Those responsible should be brought to justice.

Belarus supports the activities of the SMM which performs important functions of monitoring the implementation of Minsk agreements and calls on to take all necessary measures in order to ensure safety of the monitors of the mission.
