Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei participates in the opening ceremony of the Conference of Honorary Consuls

On October 3, 2017 Minsk hosted the opening ceremony of the first Conference of Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Belarus.



The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei.

In his statement, V.Makei stressed that today a new tradition to hold regular meetings with Honorary Consuls of our country, who are representing interests of Belarus in different parts of the world, was established.



As the Head of the Foreign Service noted, Honorary Consuls became an integral part of the united team which aim is to establish partnership relations and promote Belarusian interests abroad.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of the mission of Honorary Consuls, who make a significant contribution to building strong “bridges” between our countries in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, scientific and other spheres.



According to V.Makei, Belarus highly appreciates the experience and proposals of Honorary Consuls, who are well aware of the specifics of their countries, their traditions and customs.

The Head of the Foreign Service of our country expressed gratitude to the Honorary Consuls for the active work on the development of cooperation between Belarus and foreign countries in a wide range of areas.



Within the framework of the conference, it is planned to evaluate the results of the activity of Honorary Consuls, discuss the prospective directions of their work aimed at the protection of national interests of the Belarusian state and the rights of the Belarusians abroad. A special emphasis will be placed on foreign trade and attracting foreign investment.
