Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus O.Kravchenko participates in the Senior Officials Meeting of the Eastern Partnership

On March 12, 2018 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko, took part in the annual Eastern Partnership (EaP) Senior Officials Meeting in Brussels.

The head of the Belarus’ delegation was a keynote speaker at the Plenary Session, dedicated to the development of EaP activity in the wake of 2017 EaP Summit.

During the plenary and thematic discussions O.Kravchenko outlined the country’s approach to streamlining the EaP institutional architecture. The Belarus’ representative focused on the need to strengthen the practical output from the Eastern Partnership and its focus on concrete and tangible projects in areas like connectivity, energy efficiency, digital economy etc. O.Kravchenko encouraged further use of the EaP as a platform for a fair and equitable dialogue between EU and its partner countries in order to build up mutual trust and safety in the region. The Deputy Foreign Minister confirmed the country’s interest and readiness to launch discussions on a new framework agreement with the European Union.

On the margins of the event the Belarus representative met with the Director of the European External Action Service for Russia, EaP, Central Asia and OSCE, Luc Devigne, and the Deputy Director General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, European Commission, Katarína Mathernová. O.Kravchenko also took part in consultations between the heads of delegations of the six EaP partner countries and ambassadors-at-large for the Eastern Partnership of a number of EU Member States.
