Chargé d'Affaires of Belarus to the United States P.Shidlovsky visits Utah

On October 27-28, 2016 the Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Belarus to the United States of America, Pavel Shidlovsky, visited Solt Lake City, Utah to establish contacts with the leadership of the state, business associations and leading universities in the interests of the development of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and Utah. The meetings during the visit also attended the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Utah, Dennis Neuenschwander.

During the meeting with the Director of the Department of Economic Development of the State of Utah Governor's Office, Franz Kolb, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Belarus and Utah, as well as issues of establishing contacts between the business circles of our country and the State. The sides agreed to organize a visit of Belarusian business delegation to the State, as well as of the representatives of the country to major international and regional exhibition and presentation events.

The possibilities of establishing cooperation between Belarus and Utah in the information and high technologies were discussed during the meeting with representatives of the Utah Technology Council Jonathan Jackson and John Huntsman.

P.Shidlovsky met with a senior adviser to the chairman of the Commission on Oversight and Government Reform of the US House of Representatives, Jennifer Andelin.

During the meetings with the President of Brigham Young University, Kevin Worthen, and the Vice-President of the Utah Valley University, Baldomero Lago, the promising areas of scientific, technological and academic cooperation with Belarusian scientific and educational institutions were discussed.

P.Shidlovsky also addressed the students and teachers of Brigham Young University with a lecture “Belarus at the crossroads of Europe: developing partnership, stability and security.”

The presentation provides information on the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Belarus, the geopolitical position of our country, bilateral relations with the United States in general and the state of Utah in particular.
