Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Rybakov meets the UNDP Administrator Helen Clark

On February 10 2016, at the UN headquarters in New York the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, met with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, Helen Clark.

In the context of the 30th anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the sides discussed progress of the international Chernobyl cooperation and joint participation in the commemorative events to mark the upcoming anniversary.

Helen Clark, as a coordinator of the UN Chernobyl International Cooperation, intends to visit Belarus and take part in the high-level Conference, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the accident, in Minsk. The continuation of collaboration of the UN agencies, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and other countries will be in the interest of the international community to prevent man-made disasters, preserve experience in overcoming their consequences, recovery and sustainable development of the affected regions.

The parties also exchanged views on the prospects of the UNDP’s participation in the establishment of mutually beneficial relations between various integration organisations in the Eurasian region. The vision of such cooperation, aimed at the promotion of the global sustainable development, was proposed by the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at the UN Summit in 2015 as the idea of “integration of integrations”.
