Headquarters of Council of Europe hosts an event dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

On April 28, 2016 in Strasbourg at the Headquarters of Council of Europe an event dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of Chernobyl catastrophe was held. The event was organized by the Mission of the Republic of Belarus at the Council of Europe.

The demonstration of a short film ”The lessons of Chernobyl“ and an exhibition of photos ”Belarus. 30 years after Chernobyl“ took place in the ”Palace of Europe“.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the French Republic, Pavel Latushka,  addressed the audience and. presented the latest information about the consequences for Belarus of the twentieth century’s major technological catastrophe. P.Latushka expressed the words of gratitude to the members of Association ”Alsace – Belarus“, which had been rendering assistance to the rehabilitation of Belarusian children for the last 25 years. The Ambassador of Belarus expressed gratitude to the Secretariat of the Council of Europe for the great opportunity to hold such an event in the premises of its headquarters.

The event was attended by permanent representatives to the Council of Europe, members of diplomatic missions and CE Secretariat.

At the same day P.Latushka met with the Director of Political Affairs of the Council of Europe Alexander Guessel.

In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed further development of cooperation between Belarus and Council of Europe.
