Ambassador of Belarus S.Aleinik meets the Secretary-General of the IMO

On December 5, 2016 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sergei Aleinik, met with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Kitack Lim.

During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Belarus and IMO, as well as some joint steps to follow the full-fledged membership of Belarus in the IMO after its’ accession to the Organization as its 172nd Member.

The Ambassador of Belarus conveyed to the IMO Secretary-General the instruments of accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Convention on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic, 1965, the Protocol of 1988 relating to the Protocol of 1988 relating to the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966, and the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974.

Visiting the IMO Headquarters in London, S.Aleinik also delivered his speech at the IMO Council meeting, in which he addressed Belarus’ accession to the Organization.
