On November 5, 2019 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus, Cui Qiming.
During the meeting, Belarusian and Chinese diplomats discussed in detail the current issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of trade and economy, noted with satisfaction the continuation of the long-standing tradition of close cooperation and mutual support of Belarus and China in international organizations, and also exchanged views on the prospects for intensifying joint work in the framework of multilateral initiatives and associations, including within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the “Belt and Road” initiative and the “17 + 1” format.
The interlocutors preliminary assessed the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in 2019 and discussed plans for the next year. A.Dapkiunas and Cui Qiming noted the productivity of the meetings at the level of the heads of two states that took place this year, and the importance of these contacts for maintaining high energy in bilateral cooperation.
Belarusian and Chinese diplomats drew attention to the increased intensity of interagency contacts between specialized agencies, the productive efforts of the Belarusian and Chinese sides in further development the Great Stone International Industrial Park, and the distinguishing achievements in the field of cultural and educational exchange between the two countries.
Among other subjects, the interlocutors discussed the establishment of cooperation between Belarus and the Chinese Friendship and Cooperation Committee of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as cooperation between Belarus and China on macroeconomic policies and legal control in the framework of the Chinese-European Express mechanism.
The Deputy Minister and the Ambassador emphasized the importance of an integrated approach in developing a schedule of bilateral events and visits for 2020 in order to ensure maximum synergy of mutual efforts to bring multifaceted bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
