Permanent Representative of Belarus V.Rybakov meets the UN Under-Secretary-General

On October 17, 2018 the UN Under-Secretary-General on Counter-Terrorism, Vladimir Voronkov, made a visit to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Belarus to the UN.

During the meeting with the head of the Belarusian mission to the UN Valentin Rybakov, the head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism Office shared his impressions on his visit to Belarus which took place on October 8-11.

During the conversation, the parties elaborated on the bilateral meetings of V.Voronkov with the President of the Republic of Belarus A.Lukashenko, heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Security Council, the State Security Committee and the State Control Committee.

The high-level representative of the UN Secretariat praised the efforts of Belarus to strengthen regional security, including in the field of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

The high-level international conference held in Minsk on October 9-10 under the auspices of the OSCE “Preventing and combating terrorism in the digital age”, in which V.Voronkov took part, is one of numerous examples of such efforts. The attention paid to the conference by the OSCE Member States clearly demonstrates the timeliness and relevance of the discussion of this topic on the interstate level.

The interlocutors discussed further areas of cooperation between Belarus and the UN in the field of countering terrorism, including holding joint events.
