Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets the Polish art historian

On November 16, 2018 the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chair of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO, Vladimir Makei, met with the Polish art historian, Ferdinand Rushchits, founder of the Foundation named after the outstanding artist, native of Belarus Ferdinand Rushchits, grandson of painter. The General Director of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Prokoptsov, also took part in the meeting.

Тhe sides discussed a joint project to be implemented in 2020 within the framework of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of F.Rushchits. The project aimed at promotion of the creativity of the artist includes the organization of exhibitions of his works in Minsk, Warsaw, Vilnius, holding in Minsk the conference dedicated to his life and work, the restoration of ancestral estate in Bohdanovo (Volozhin district, Minsk region), creation of the cultural center named after F.Rushchits. The National Commission for UNESCO is considering the prospect of including the 150th anniversary of F.Rushchits in the List of Anniversaries with which UNESCO could be associated during the 2020 – 2021 biennium. It is expected that the project will be supported by a number of countries.

V.Makei stressed the important role of such cultural projects for the expansion of dialogue between the countries, highlighted the interest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in active cooperation with the project participants for its promotion, including within the framework of the National Commission for UNESCO.
