Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei participates in the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Meeting

On April 20, 2015 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei in Luxembourg took part in the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Meeting, which was dedicated to the preparation of the EaP Summit in Riga (21-22 May 2015).



In his plenary statement Vladimir Makei outlined Belarus’ approaches towards the development of the relations with the European Union and participation of Belarus in the Eastern Partnership. He stressed the necessity for ensuring genuine equality among the EU and the EaP Partner Countries, respect for their interests, and focus on practical spheres of cooperation. Vladimir Makei urged launching without delay a dialogue between the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union with a view to establishing a common economic area as a key element of a lasting peace and prosperity in the region.



While in Luxembourg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus met with top officials of the European Commission, European External Action Service, as well as ministers of foreign affairs of the EU Member States and the EaP Partner Countries to discuss the current issues and opportunities for expanding Belarus-EU and bilateral cooperation.
