Ambassador of Belarus A.Ponomarev visits Bosnia and Herzegovina

On December 21-24, 2020 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina concurrently Aleksandr Ponomarev paid a working visit to Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

During the visit the Ambassador of Belarus was received by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Tegeltija. During the meeting the parties discussed the state and prospects of relations between Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The interlocutors also exchanged information about the situation with the coronavirus pandemic in the two countries, as well as about the measures taken for epidemiological protection and support of the population.

A.Ponomarev met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josip Brkic. A number of issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed. There was expressed support to the practice of organizing joint consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries. Ways of intensifying contacts and tourism exchange, as well as the development of the legal framework for bilateral interaction were considered.

Priority areas of cooperation for the near future, including in the field of culture, education, sport and health were discussed during the meeting of the Ambassador of Belarus with the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ankica Gudeljevic.

During the meeting of A.Ponomarev with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Stasa Kosarac, the understanding of necessity to intensify trade and economic interaction was reached. The issues of establishing a bilateral joint commission on economic cooperation were considered.

There was also a meeting of the Ambassador of Belarus with the representative of Group for East and Middle Europe of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mladen Bosic. The promising areas for developing interparliamentary cooperation were discussed.

In the framework of the briefing in the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina a comprehensive review of Belarus’ economic development and an analysis of the dynamics of bilateral trade were presented. During the meeting with the Vice President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nemanja Vasic the interest in activating contacts with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was expressed.

On December 24, 2020 the Ambassador A.Ponomarev took part at the opening ceremony of the office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in the city of Pale. The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Staas Kosarac, took part in the ceremony On behalf of Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was also attended by representatives of the administration of the city of Pale and business.
