Ambassador of Belarus S.Aleinik visits Ireland

On April 26 — 27, 2017 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland non-resident, Sergei Aleinik, visited Ireland.

During the visit, the Ambassador of Belarus met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, Charles Flanagan, and the Director General of the Department of Europe of the Foreign Ministry of Ireland, Eoin O'Leary.

During the meetings, the parties reviewed the state and prospects for bilateral political, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation, key issues on the regional and international agenda. The sides exchanged opinions on the relevant aspects of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, primarily the OSCE.

S.Aleinik also met with the Speaker of the Lower Chamber of the Parliament of Ireland, Sean O'Fearghail. The parties considered a wide range of issues of interparliamentary cooperation, including the participation of the delegation of Ireland in the annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to be held in Minsk in July, 2017.

Humanitarian cooperation and assistance programs for Belarusian children from Irish charities were discussed at the meeting of the Belarusian Ambassador with the Head of the Chernobyl Children Trust, Simon Walsh.

During the visit a number of meetings with representatives of the Irish business community were held. The sides discussed issues of supplies of Belarusian tractors and other products to the Irish market, implementation of investment projects in our country with the participation of Irish capital in the field of renewable energy and agriculture.
