Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus O.Kravchenko participates in the commemorative ceremony, dedicated to 100 years since the United States entered the First World War

On April 6, 2017 the Belarusian delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oleg Kravchenko, upon the invitation of the U.S. side took part in the commemorative ceremony titled “In Sacrifice for Liberty and Peace”, dedicated to 100 years since the United States entered the First World War. Charge d'Affaires a.i. of Belarus in the U.S., Pavel Shidlovsky, was also part of the delegation.

The commemorative ceremony and accompanying events took place in Kansas City (Missouri) on the site of the National World War I Museum and Memorial. More than 4 thousand people participated in the event, including official representatives of 30 countries of the world, which fought in the First World War.

The event was focused on in-depth examining of events which happened hundred years ago and their influence on the formation of the world order, as well as on paying tribute to the war victims.

During the ceremony, representatives of a number of countries and public, the descendants of veterans read excerpts from articles and literary works of the First World War. Leading historians and scientists took part in the scientific colloquium. The most vivid musical works of that time were performed, archival films and photographs were shown. The US airmen and the French Air Force Group “Patrouille de France” made demonstration flights.
