Sustainable Development Council meets in the Foreign Ministry

On June 1, 2018 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus hosted a meeting of the Sustainable Development Council chaired by National Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Marianna Shchotkina. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas, took part in the meeting.

Background Information: Sustainable Development Council was established by the President of the Republic of Belarus, as the basis of the mechanism for implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda including Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) contained therein. The Council is comprised of representatives of state bodies and organizations at the level of deputy heads. Representatives of non-governmental organizations, business, academia and international organizations also participate in its work.

During the meeting, the members of the Council discussed current and future activities aimed at achieving SDGs at the national level.

A.Dapkiunas presented information on the ongoing and planned international activities of Belarus in the field of sustainable development.
