Telephone conversation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania

On August 4, 2020 at the initiative of the Lithuanian side the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, had a phone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevicius. 

L.Linkevicius informed that the air communication between Belarus and Lithuania was resumed due to improvement of the epidemiological situation.

The ministers also touched upon the issue of construction of Belarusian nuclear power plant. V.Makei stated that Belarus as the most suffered from the Chernobyl disaster country is fully committed to ensuring maximum security of the plant and is ready to continue interaction on this matter with competent international organizations. This was communicated to the European Commission and the EU member states. 

In the framework of discussion of electoral issues, V.Makei stressed that the leadership of Belarus is interested in ensuring smooth electoral campaign without any external interference. Foreign Minister of Belarus drew the interlocutor’s attention to the fact that all actions inside the country would be evaluated and considered exclusively through the prism of compliance with national legislation. At the same time, Belarusian authorities will be forced to take adequate response measures in case of a threat to the statehood of Belarus.
