Permanent Representative of Belarus V.Rybakov delivers a statement at the plenary session of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly

On June 3, 2019 the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations, Valentin Rybakov, delivered a statement at the plenary session of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly during consideration of the agenda item on implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the political declarations on HIV/AIDS.

V.Rybakov informed of the national policy to achieve the global goal of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS «90-90-90», while confirming the country's full commitment to the implementation of the Political Declaration on Ending HIV/AIDS.
 
 
In particular, the Permanent Representative noted that Belarus adopted a Plan of additional activities to ensure the achievement of the Global Goal «90-90-90» for 2018-2020. V. Rybakov outlined that Belarus considers the period up to 2020 as a “window of opportunities” for influencing the HIV epidemic and sets an ambitious goal –  to achieve epidemic well-being on HIV infection until 2023.
 
The Belarusian diplomat expressed interest in further strengthening our cooperation with the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).
 
V. Rybakov outlined the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Directorate of the II European Games and UNAIDS as one of the latest successful examples of this cooperation, which will serve to promote a healthy lifestyle and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2030 through educational and humanitarian heritage of the II European games to be held in Minsk on June 21-30 this year.
