Belarus-Kazakhstan

An active dialogue is underway between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan. On a regular basis, exchanges of visits at the highest and high levels are carried out, meetings of presidents and prime ministers of Belarus and Kazakhstan are held, incl. within the framework of the CIS, CSTO, Eurasian integration. Official visits of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Minsk in November 2017 and the President of the Republic of Belarus to Astana in October 2013 confirmed the strategic nature of the relations between our countries. In 2017 Belarus took part in the International specialized exhibition “EXPO-2017” (Astana). Celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Belarus at EXPO-2017 was held with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. A.Kobyakov. (August 2017).

Diplomatic relations between the countries were established on September 16, 1992. In 1997 the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus was opened in Kazakhstan, since July 2002 the office of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Almaty has been functioning. The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in our country was opened in 1995. The legal and contractual basis for bilateral cooperation today includes more than 60 international treaties and instruments.

In terms of foreign trade of the Republic of Belarus with the CIS countries, Kazakhstan, traditionally, ranks third following the neighboring countries and key trade partners — Russia and Ukraine.

In 2016 the volume of foreign trade in goods of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 419.1 million dollars. At the same time, Belarus’ export to Kazakhstan amounted to 363.7 million dollars.

The leading export goods to Kazakhstan in 2016 were: tractors and tractor units, milk and dairy products, machines and mechanisms for harvesting and threshing crops, trucks, furniture.

In January-October of 2017 the volume of foreign trade amounted to 555.5 million dollars, including Belarus’ export — 483.3 million dollars.

There are 8 large joint assembly plants of Belarusian machinery and equipment operating in Kazakhstan (OJSC “BelAZ”, OJSC “MTZ”, OJSC “Gomselmash”, OJSC “MAZ”, OJSC “HMC “Bobruiskagromash”, etc.). Parties are planning to launch another 6 assembly plants. In 2017 the project of assembly of vehicles of OJSC “MAZ” on the site of LLC “Motor Company” Astana-Motors” (Almaty) was launched.
