General information: directions, tasks and results

The Republic of Belarus implements a multi-vector foreign economic policy and actively participates in international integration processes. 

Belarus is an export-oriented country with well-developed manufacturing sector and agriculture. 

In 2022, foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Belarus reached 76.9 billion USD which is 6% less than in the year 2021. Export of goods amounted to 38.3 billion USD and decreased by 4.2% compared to the previous year.

The commodity structure of Belarusian export includes more than a thousand commodity items at the level of four digits of the HS codes of the EAEU. The most important export positions are products of petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, woodworking, light industry, dairy and meat products, furniture, glass, fiberglass, cement.

The main imports are energy resources (oil and natural gas), raw materials, materials and components (metals and products from them, raw materials for chemical production, machine parts), technological equipment.

In 2022, Belarusian products were exported to the markets of 161 countries

The main trade partners of Belarus are Russia, EAEU, and CIS countries. The presence of Belarusian manufacturers in the regions of Asia, Africa, America and Oceania is expanding. The work to expand access to the markets of faraway countries is carried out together with EAEU partners by concluding free trade agreements.

In 2022, export of Belarusian services amounted to 9.2 billion USD, which is 10.8% less than in 2021.

In 2022, the balance of foreign trade in goods and services is at its three decades maximum ("plus" $4.3 billion).
