BelToll: e-collection system for driving toll roads

The Republic of Belarus has a BelToll collection system. The system is based on the use of specialized radio technology over short distances. This technology allows road users to pay for travel without stopping vehicles at collection points.

The drivers of the following vehicles types must pay for driving toll roads, which are included in BelToll system:

♦ motor vehicles with the technically permissible total weight exceeding 3.5 tons;

♦motor vehicles with the technically permissible total weight not exceeding 3.5 tons, registered outside the Eurasian Economic Union.

The drivers of vehicles with technically permissible total weight not exceeding 3.5 tons, registered in the member-states of the Eurasian Economic Union, do not pay for driving toll roads.

In order to pay the toll foreigner should apply to the nearest customer service point and sign a contract with the State enterprise “Belavtostrada”, pay the deposit for the special onboard unit, make a toll pre-payment, receive a personalized onboard unit in a Customer Service Point and install it on the vehicle in accordance with the User Manual.

At the customer service point a foreigner can:

receive a complete information about “BelToll” system;

check a personal account;

sign a contract, cancel it, return the onboard unit, as well as add money on the account and pay the deposit for the special onboard unit;

receive or change the onboard unit, check it;

get information on tariffs and the road net

claim the malfunctioning of the “BelToll” system.
